Cube Like a Boss: Backgammon Doubling Cube Strategy Poster
Description
Cube Like a Boss: The Positions is a backgammon doubling cube strategy poster from Backgammon Galaxy. It shows 21 reference positions, each with the correct cube action, so you can learn when to double, when to take and when to pass by looking at real boards instead of reading paragraphs.
The positions come from Backgammon: Cube Like a Boss – Patterns, Intuition & Strategy (2019) by Grandmaster Marc Brockmann Olsen, and every position was analysed with eXtreme Gammon (XG).
What's on the poster
The 21 positions are grouped into six game plans. In each row, one advantage is added at a time so you can watch the verdict flip from No double / Take to Double / Take, Double / Pass and Too good / Pass. Every board is labelled with its cube action and your winning chances.
- 1. Race: count the pips, with the 89 → 10 rule for his last take (double from 5 pips up, pass from 11 behind).
- 2. Blitz: the 8 · 9 · 10 rule for checkers in your attacking zone.
- 3. Priming: how a growing prime turns a take into a pass.
- 4. Prime vs prime: timing decides who wins the battle.
- 5. Holding game: when your opponent's anchor is no longer enough.
- 6. Backgame: the well-timed backgame rule (wait until 3 points are left to clear; with 2 left it's a pass or too good).
A colour-coded legend in the top corner explains how to read every board. All positions are 0–0 in a 7-point match with Black on roll.
Who it's for
The poster is made for intermediate and improving backgammon players who want better cube decisions, and it works as a quick reference for club and tournament players. It looks good in a game room, office or study, and it makes a thoughtful gift for any backgammon player, especially one who still takes too many bad doubles.

FAQ
What is the doubling cube in backgammon?
The doubling cube lets a player offer to double the stakes of the game. The opponent must either take (and play on for double) or pass (and lose the current stake). Knowing when to double, take or pass is one of the most important skills in backgammon.
Do I need the book to use the poster?
No. The poster works on its own as a visual reference. The book Cube Like a Boss explains the ideas behind each position in more depth.
Is the poster framed?
No, it ships unframed. Both sizes fit standard poster frames.
