Great book

This is well written and easy to understand. Having said that, I'm so new so some of it doesn't really stick yet. However, it's a book that I know I'll return to for more repetition. Job well done(written?).

Beginner friendly

The book covers basic topics for beginners and goes deeper to more intermediate topics just as advertised. A great starting point for new players with interest in backgammon. For other players it serves the purpose of collectors item and a way to refresh your memory on various rules of thumb.

Essential for beginner and intermediate level

My game noticeably improved after reading this book. The pattern recognition chapter, in particular, was very useful. Clear and concise explanations make this an easy read and will give your game a solid foundation to build on.

So You're Ready to Get Better

I've read over a dozen backgammon books over the years, and if I had to do it all over again I wish I had started with this one. If you know how to play, but want to get better this should be your first book. When Olsen mentioned in the video pimping it out that there was "no math" I figured I needed to check it out. The math parts of most books are beyond me for the level I play at. While a lot of this is old hat to me now, it is packed with solid improvement tips for players who are ready to move beyond the "I hope the dice get me around the board" stage of playing.
