History of the design

Inspired by the iconic "I *heart* NY" design, one of the best-selling designs of all time, which was released in 1977 to promote the city of New York. Graphic designer Milton Glaser created the legendary logo in 1976 on the back of a taxi, using a red crayon on scrap paper.
